GALLE - The Dutch Fort

Distance: 70 km - Duration: A nice day outing - Drive Time: 1 hour

Cobbled paving, narrow streets, old churches from Portuguese and Dutch influences blend in with shops, exotic cuisine, panoramic sea views and cafe culture. A UNESCO-protected and world heritage site, a must-see for anyone visiting southern Sri Lanka.

Mulkirigala Temple

Distance: 23 km - Duration: ½ day - Drive Time: 40 min drive

An ancient 3rd century rock temple built on a 673ft high rocky outcrop, Mulkirigala is a cultural and historical gem, that has stayed out of the limelight until modern times. Ancient Buddhist paintings at the temple from the Kandyan era, rock and cave inscriptions awaiting to be discovered.

The trip to/from the temple takes approximately half a day.
